Natural Dog and Cat Food May Not Be Enough for Great Health
April 30th, 2007 by Andi BrownThe Low-Carb Healthy Dog and Cat food makes perfect pet sense! Sure, your pet has a paunch? You’re certainly not alone. Pet obesity is on the rise. One in four pets is obese, according to the National Academy of Science. That’s a nation of more than 16 million pudgy precious pups and pusses! So, why not follow “mother nature” herself down a healthy path to well being? Dogs and cats are carnivores and that means - real meat!
Fortunately a new wave of information is becoming available to pet owners and even backed by the Holistic Veterinary Community. These savvy healers are promoting the elimination of fillers in pet foods, such as corn, wheat, rice as well of all their derivitives. (Remember, too that these ingredients are allegedly considered the culprits in the recent pet food recall!) These vets have also found a direct correlation to diabetes, chronic kidney disorders as well as mobility issues related to obesity.
We have come to understand that just like humans, our pets need an abundance of high-quality proteins, along with a variety of vegetables to help process them through the system.
There’s never been an overweight pet on a program of healthy eating. For a free recipe, you can always go to www.halopets.com, or - better yet - read my book “The Whole Pet Diet: Eight Weeks to Great Health for Dogs and Cats” (Ten Speed Press). For the time or kitchen challenged pet lover: Buy Spot’s Stew®, already made, in a can, as if you had made it yourself! We supply the chef. You supply the love! And as I always say: “Just Stew It!”
Bone Appetite!
