Choosing a Healthy Pet Food

April 3rd, 2008 by Julie B

Jack Russel Terrier     There are so many pet foods on the market that it’s tough to pick the best one for your pet. it’s no secret to anyone who knows me that I love my dog more than almost anything. I suppose one could call me a zealot. I admit it. She sleeps in my bed with me, I speak to her as though she is human, - you get the idea. I really want her to have what is healthiest for her and unbelievably, I do know the difference between human food and dog food. I always thought it would be so great if there were a healthy, well-balanced dog food that would be nutritious enough that I would want her to have it and yummy enough for her that she just might think she was eating something she would normally try to steal from me.

Ask and ye shall receive.

When I looked at the ingredients, I was thrilled to see real food items listed…chicken, peas, cranberries, etc. I’m not a veterinarian but I don’t need a degree to see what’s healthy. In addition, let us not forget, the food is called “Halo”…I felt like I could not go wrong. Now, all she had to do was eat it. Phoebe is a spoiled girl. I am not proud of that, just honest. Much to my delight, she ate it and LOVED it.

This is the first time in Phoebe’s nine years that she actually loves something healthy and nutritious. Now, if only Halo could come up with a product that would make Phoebe stop stealing my shoes….
