WHY ADOPT FROM AN ANIMAL SHELTER

Adopt-a-PetAdopting from animal shelters saves numerous lives every year.

Alexa Wirfs, 14, knew she had found her “best friend staring back….from the inside of a cage” when she adopted her cat Chaz from SafeHaven in Albany Oregon (read about Halo’s donation to the shelter here).

i can’t help but smile when i read happy adoptions. i too have adopted recently… but i adopted 4 new 4-legged kid… people look at me like i am nut’ but… the family that had these wonderful dogs were going through rough times and the poor little dogs were so unhealthy looking and one was nothing but matts and bones and so ill tempered… i saw her eyes and i saw what was really there . she is the lhasa-poo her eyes told me so much when i looked into her eyes. i don’t just look at a dog i look into the soul. and i saw fear, pain , hunger, and wanting to be loved. in one month she is shinny, good natured, free of fleas, happy, gives much love, weight is great, no more runny eyes ,and has learned many tricks very, very smart girl she is.and to think she was going to be put down… i cry sometimes … just to think what i could have lost and she is only 3 years old.. her other sister from same home is a rat terrier 5 years old… was hyper and skin was red she just was dirty and hungery … but now eats normal weight is good and she is clean and shinny, and those eyes she is eager to learn listen very well and just such a turn around for her… in just one month. and her 6 year old sister a little chi who had both knees out could hardly walk… on hip and joint and xtra-c she is running and shinny fur like glass she is just so sweet and cute you could eat her up with kisses and she too was going to be put down… and the last sister a 12 year old dog who could hardly walk down the steps to go out side she is the big girl 50 lb’s. now her jet black fur is so very shinny free of mats and she looks like a golden retriever that is black i have no idea of what kind of dog… we say to poeple .. why she is a shelley dog( that is her name)we removed the ramp from the steps she is running up and down them to go out now and she gets the hip and joint w/ the extra c from halo. just think what we would have missed if we had not known of these wonderful girls that give us so much love… they will never know again what is to be hungry, unloved dirty, or to sleep out side ever again.. you can not tell that they are even the same dog’s now and that is in just one month. and , i have two dog’s that were only two pounds each and never one time did i fear bring these girl into our family… it was if they already knew each other…. the onl problem was house traing the chi.. and i need the halo stain and ordor remover but my area isn’t caring that product. i even took hailey to the shelther where the worker said all that could be done is to put this dog down…. and i went over to the owner and that is how i have the 4 new kids…. they all could not believe this was the same crippled dog.. and said she will go fast… and i said i only wanted to show you what love and caring with the right food can make .. she has her 4- ever home.and i truely can’t make any difference in any of my gang even from my 4 year old dog i had her from a small pup and my yorkie who is 2 1/2 and i raised him from only two day’s on goats milk 24/7 care i love all my dog’s and they seem as if all the pain and hungry has left but i cry to think of all the cold snow days and their thin little bodies laying out there hungry and thirsty and no bed just the cold hard ground, how lucky we were to be in the right place at the right time for these girls (they all were going to be put down)and it is sad to think i would not have had the joy to show them all humans are not cruel and what they have given to us we could never give as much as they have to me and my husband. i learned alot by taking these 4 girls at one time… and yes we have spent so much in the start on vet bill… there was so much more than just the shots….they needed but they are worth everything that we have done to get them into health and they were not perfect… they all had problems…. but they were worth a second chance and to have a life… and i will never know why the family had so many and never took them to the vet …. but i know they were waiting on me their mom… they just had to go throuh so much pain until i found them.

i have a question that i forget to ask . we buy the five gallon jugs of water for our water cooler of HIGH PH, ALKALINE,IONIZED WATER. i use spring water for all my dog’s but would it be safe for a dog to drink our kind of water as we like the taste of this water…. would it be safe for our dogs? we buy 7 -8 gallons of spring water weekly just for drinking and 6 gallons weekly to cook with of spring water. but if we could use this water for our pet’s w/ out harm we would the taste is great so much better and we get about 15 five gallons at a time. if it is safe we would be glad to buy more for the 4- legged kids too.only if it is safe. thank you if you have answer… if not we will keep up just spring water for safty.we want the best for our gang. have a great day
