“Squeaky toys are more fun when the stuffing is out of them.”
“I don’t do baths.”
“I am addicted to sticks.”
There are just a few of the sentiments from dogs whose owners send postcards to The Pet Postcard Project – since dogs aren’t allowed to use scissors or buy stamps at the post office, they generally need a little help from their human friends.
Why do dogs and cats send in postcards of themselves confessing their deepest secrets or giving expert canine or feline advice? Because each card they send earns a meal of dog and cat food for shelter animals – in the months of September and October, 2010. Freekibble.com has pledged 25,000 meals of Halo Spot’s Stew to four animal shelters through The Pet Postcard Project – we need just 4000 cards to come postmarked in October, and there are 2 weeks left – plenty of time to get your cards in. You can even win some great prizes!
It’s easy to participate – just check out www.petpostcardproject.com and look at the cards that have come in – new cards post every day. Read the information on Food Raiser Campaigns to see exactly how it works – there’s even a short video explaining the process of how postcards turn into pet food.
The postcards are hand made, feature your pet, and have “confessions” or “advice” on them from your dog or cat. They can be funny, heartwarming, or profound – whatever your dog or cat wants to say to the world about his or her life.

I conceived of The Pet Postcard Project in 2007 and never imagined the success it has seen, raising many thousands of pounds of food for shelter animals. I merely aimed at supporting one local rescue in Miami, Florida, and have helped over a dozen rescues and shelters feed their hungry homeless pets. I have received thousands of postcards and I’m awed at the creativity and heart contained in them.
Thank you, Halo and Freekibble.com, for partnering with me and The Pet Postcard Project – and the animals thank you as well!
