The National Canine Cancer Foundation has a cool November-long fundraiser to fund canine cancer research.
For a minimum $5 donation to their “National Dog Wash: Wash Away Canine Cancer,” a virtual dog wash, you get so many goodies it seems downright silly not to donate: a can of Halo Spot’s Stew, two different dog shampoos from John Paul Pet (the pet care line of Paul Mitchell hair products), 30 days of pet health insurance for free through trupanion, and a pink paw magnet from the NCCF. Shelter dogs benefit too, with a meal of Halo’s Spot’s Stew supplied by Freekibble.com for every donation.
“The science is there, we just need money to fund the studies,” says Gary Nice founder of the NCCF. “And these are cures that are very likely to be used for people.”

Donors are encouraged to wash their dogs at home, and send in photos and videos of their pups to www.nationaldogwash.com, where they will be posted.
For those of us who have lost a dog to this awful disease, we know how important — and urgent — it is to fund these studies. About one out of every three dogs is expected to have cancer, and of those that get it, half will die of the disease.
The NCCF is currently working on funding a large lymphoma study, another investigating hemangiosarcoma, among others. If your dog has cancer, please contact NCCF to see if he or she can join a clinical trial.
We at Halo jumped at the chance to support the NCCF in this effort, and we are proud to be the first and only brand recognized by the National Canine Cancer Foundation with its Seal of Excellence.
