When Pat Hopper received a 500 pound donation of Halo, Spot’s stew cat food from Freekibble.com she loaded up her truck and delivered it to the two nearby rescues she helps. The cats went crazy.
“It’s like putting a dessert in front of them,” says Hopper, 66, of Douglasville, Georgia. “They really like it. And with this food being so nutritious, they don’t eat as much because they fill up.”
Hopper, a retired convenience store manager, brought the Halo to BullyWag and Jennifer’s Pet Rescue. Already, Hopper sees a difference in the cats’ well-being.
“Their coats are so shiny and they look so healthy, it makes it easier for adoption,” she says. “We are very pleased for the animals’ sake.”

Palena Dorsey, founder of the Sanctuary Animal Rescue in Florida who receives monthly donations of Halo from Freekibble.com, connected Hopper with Freekibble for the food.
But to Hopper, the donation helps tremendously, as everything she does comes out of her own pocket. Yet her elation has nothing to do with that.

“The animals just love it and that’s what gives us pleasure, to do well for the animals,” says Hopper, who transports cats and dogs to new homes, sometimes driving hundreds of miles to locales in Georgia and Alabama. At her local shelter, Hopper keeps an eye out for cats with special medical needs, and makes sure they are cared for by the local vet. “We appreciate what y’all do.”
The feeling is mutual. “This is what it’s all about,” says Freekibble’s Kelly Ausland, “helping people like Pat who are working so hard to take care of homeless pets.”
