Best Vegan Dog Food

Dogs aren’t the only ones going garbanzo over Halo®Garden of Vegan®. With more than 1 million votes cast by readers in the largest survey of vegan products in the world, Garden of Vegan® won the prestigious 2018 VegNews Veggie Award for “Best Dog Food,” leaping ahead of the competition.

Dog moms and dads love Halo® Garden of Vegan® for dogs with protein sensitivities, if they want to include their dog in their vegan lifestyle, or if they want to combat climate change by reducing their carbon pawprint.

“We are honored to have Halo Garden of Vegan Dog Food recognized by VegNews and its highly food-conscious community,” said Myron Lyskanycz, CEO for Halo. “Vegan is our fastest growing category of pet food and this award is a testament to pet parents who feed their dogs a vegan diet for its high quality whole-food ingredients and because their dogs thrive on this delicious complete and balanced food. It’s also a great alternative for the many dogs with meat, dairy, corn, or wheat sensitivities.”

Made with plant-based protein from whole grains, green peas and chickpeas, and non-GMO fruits and vegetables, our vegan dog food is complete and balanced, and made without any of the leading allergens, including meat, dairy, corn, or wheat. Garden of Vegan® is also made without fillers like rice.

We at Halo are thrilled to receive the most prestigious honor in the vegan industry, and delighted to be able to announce it on World Vegan Day.

Past Veggie Award winners in other categories include: Ben & Jerry’s, Naked Juice, Sabra, Stella McCartney, Ellen DeGeneres, Farm Sanctuary, Daiya, Vegenaise and LaraBar.

  1. Our local chain, Concord Pet, Wilmington, DE is no longer able to get the vegan adult formula. My dog loves and thrives on that food since I discovered it. Please let me know of any source from which I may purchase it. Thank you. Diane Forster

  2. I recently visited a new vet and he was warning me against vegan dog food for our dog. They are seeing heart disease in dogs eating boutique foods which he includes all vegan pet foods. Told me to do some research so wanted to hear your feedback on this.

The price per can is now $4.19 which is higher than non vegan. Growing vegetables is a lot cheaper than raising animals so I’m wondering if is this a money grab.

Another point, was some info posted on your main site describing that you are against factory farming and use of antibiotics. As long as we have so many people eating meat, there will be a need for factory farming & antibiotics to keep those suffering, cramped numbers healthy. Why not be direct and mention that the suffering of animals is what you’re against? With modern technology can we eliminate killing animals to feed others, even those carnivores such as cats.?

  3. My dog has an allergy to animal protein and it’s been quite the trial to find a kibble that is totally vegan. Thank goodness I finally found Hao’s Garden of Vegan! I’ve started to include it in his diet of homemade food and he loves it!! Thank you Halo!

  4. My Frenchie has allergies and is on a hydrolized dry food from the vet. She is also on meds receptor blockers. Do you think this food would work or do you have any recommendations. My old chi is on your small breed and is loving it. Her coat is beginning to look healthy again. Thanks

    • Hi Joanne, its always best to consult your vet prior to switching foods. However feel free to contact our office at 800) 426-4256 for more information about our products.
