PETMD: HALO … HAUTE CUISINE WITHOUT THE GUILT (WEEK 1)

November 18th, 2009 by David Yaskulka

doggieyoga2PetMD blogger Rick Tamargo kicked off the fanciful account of his yellow Lab Gordi’s transition to Halo with week 1 of an 8-part series with “Halo…Haute Cuisine Without the Guilt.” While fictionalized, the series is based on real-life Gordi’s actual transition to Halo Spot’s Stew (wet and dry mixed), treats, supplements and grooming products – all supervised by Dr. Donna Spector.

Told from Gordi’s perspective, Week 1 begins with the 8-year old “former paw model” reflecting:

“I started off this week feeling like I was going to burst with energy. It may just be my imagination, but I think I’ve lost an ounce or two since starting Halo last week. I’ve even started to notice some of the boys sniffing in my direction as I pass by.”

PETMD STAR LABRADOR BEGINS FANCIFUL TRANSITION TO HALO

November 10th, 2009 by David Yaskulka

You just HAVE to read this column! Eight year old Gordi, invited to a charity cruise and soiree to the South Pacific, bemoans her “eight year old Labrador physique,” feeling she “had become an old girl.” But her best friend Happa, “an elegant Italian greyhound,” told Gordi the secret to her inner and outer beauty.

“Happa went on to tell me about an eating program he had switched to, after much frustration with foods that included unsavory fillers. The Pet Promise regimen had worked for a time, but because they were going out of business, Happa was in the process of switching over to the Halo menu.

“I thought Pet Promise was amazing,” he said. “But I’m feeling even better since I started Halo. I didn’t think life could get any better — but it has!”

Tune in to this 8-part series, a fanciful but reality-based account of Haute or Not columnist Rick Tamargo’s beloved Gordi’s transition to Halo. Under the supervision of Halo consulting veterinarian Dr. Donna Spector, the real-life Gordi has begun the transition to Halo Spot’s Stew (dry and wet), treats, supplements and grooming products. It’s can’t miss journalism!

WHY PET PROMISE PETS WANT HALO

October 16th, 2009 by David Yaskulka

Can you name two leading dry dog and cat food brands that don’t use chicken meal? We asked that question on Twitter, and people wrote it with dozens of brands – all of which use chicken meal and other rendered meat products in their formulas.

So far we only know of two that do not – two brands that only use pure protein sources (such as chicken) and avoid rendered meats all together: Pet Promise and Halo. And with Delicious Living Magazine reporting that Pet Promise is being discontinued, there aren’t many dry food choices left!

So why doesn’t Halo use chicken meal? You may be surprised to find what this popular, wholesome-sounding ingredient may contain. Click the banner to learn more.
