Study Shows Consumers Want Natural Pet Products

July 11th, 2008 by Mira

Evidence of many Americans’ increased interest in environmentally conscious products can be found everywhere. Television programs and books devoted to “going green” have been popping up all over, and websites like Terra-no have been created to provide eco-friendly shopping directories.

A recent study, conducted by consumer market intelligence research firm Packaged Facts, shows that this interest extends to purchases made for Fido and Fluffy as well. Of 25.1 million pet households in the United States, almost half seek out eco-friendly or natural pet products. Nationwide sales of natural pet food reflect this trend, increasing from $417 million in 2003 to $1 billion in 2007. The study presents a good sign, not only for the health of our cats and dogs, but also for the health of the environment as well.
