HEALTHY COOKING COACH CHEF RACHEL RECOMMENDS HALO TREATS

September 16th, 2009 by David Yaskulka

Chef Rachel Albert-Matesz, author of The Garden of Eating: A Produce-Dominated Diet and Cookbook, wrote a long review of Halo products on her popular blog, The Healthy Cooking Coach. We’re thrilled that Chef Rachel made such statements as “Your pets are what they eat” and told her loyal readers to “Read the ingredient list for everything you buy for your pets. Can you identify the ingredients?…Does it contain ‘meal,’ wheat, gluten, soy or corn (all common allergens)? My suggestion: Choose products with the simplest and fewest ingredients as close to the way you’d find them in nature.”

Chef Rachel explains, “With the help of several great books on holistic pet care and the Internet, I’ve found some companies whose products I feel good about giving my girls (her two cats). After the product passes my ingredient test it has to pass their taste test, which isn’t always easy.”

We’re glad our Liv-a-Littles treats passed both tests, though Rachel had the worthy recommendation that Halo offer smaller-size protein treats specifically for cats. I’m happy to say our baked cat treat are in fact perfectly feline-sized. Sadly, Chef Rachel’s kitties wouldn’t eat their vegetables when they tried their Halo Spot’s Stew. Hey, sometimes it takes a while (same for my human kids). Chef Rachel also spoke highly of Halo grooming products.

CAT BIBLE READER PRAISES HALO LIV-A-LITTLES TREATS FOR FINICKY KITTIES

August 28th, 2009 by David Yaskulka

The Cat Bible author Tracie Hotchner blogged about this great testimonial from Charlotte in Texas, “who worries herself sick when her kitties won’t eat,” according to Tracie.

She offered a trick for kitties that won’t eat: use Halo Liv-a-Littles treats. She said, “I took some and processed it into powder and put on her raw chicken and she ate every bite. WooHoo!” Click here to read the rest of Charlotte’s letter on Tracie’s blog.

It’s a story we hear fairly often here. In fact, my own cat Sterling was fading fast with health issues and no appetite at all. But he loves Liv-a-Littles protein treats, so we did the same thing Charlotte suggests – and it saved Sterling’s life.

Here’s a time and money-saving tip for those in similar situations: try Halo Dinner Party rather than crushing the Liv-a-Littles treats. It’s essentially the same ingredients (almost all pure butcher-quality meat or wild fish), but Dinner Party is already in powder form, and about half the price of the whole treats. Enjoy!
