Pet of the Week

Congratulations to Buddy and Willy, this week’s Halo pets!

October 29th, 2008 by Mira

This week we asked you to send in your best photos of your pets in costume, and boy did we get some adorable submissions! In fact, this time we have two pets of the week; after all, how could we choose between Buddy and Willy, the two little hot dogs?

Buddy came to his mom from a local pet store, but researching his background led her to learn about the plight of puppy mills, and she is now a volunteer for Coast to Coast Dachshund Rescue. This is where she found her other little boy, Willy. Prior to rescue, Willy was actually supposed to be euthanized because he had an underbite. But his new mom fell in love with him immediately, and she adopted him shortly before Christmas in 2002.

These two dachshunds have very different personalities: Buddy being very mellow and laid back, while Willy is feisty and loves to play. Willy enjoys playing with his kitty sister and has also been known to terrorize the local toad population – he likes to bark at those that cross his path while outside!

Buddy and Willy are all ready for Halloween, and these two hams just love to show off their costumes. Their mom says they love attention and will do pretty much anything – as long as someone is telling them how adorable they are!

Congratulations to Pudge, this week’s Halo pet!

October 22nd, 2008 by Mira

We really didn’t have any choice for this week’s winner. This adorable photo of baby Pudge received the most photo comments that have ever been posted on the Halo MySpace page – and can anyone say that they’re surprised? From what we hear, this now six-month-old girl is quite the spoiled pooch, and judging by all the love her photo received, we don’t think that’s going to be changing any time soon!

Pudge’s mom assures us that she appreciates all the attention and loves meeting new people. Pudge is a very friendly girl, who gives plenty of kisses and likes playing with other dogs and visiting the beach. She enjoys spending time with the felines too, as her family includes several cat friends.

This summer, Pudge was lucky enough to enjoy her own pool lounge. Her mom tells us she loved spending all day just floating around and sunning herself. Sounds like it’s not such a “ruff” life for this little girl!

Check Out These Happy Halo Pets!

October 22nd, 2008 by Mira

One of our favorite things about the Pet of the Week contest is getting to see photos of our adorable winners with their prizes. We thought our blog readers would like to see the cute pet pictures too; so, today we’re going to share with everyone!

Here’s Maggie May investigating her Halo goodie bag. We’re very happy to report that Maggie is doing well after her knee surgery.

Our little pug cutie, Rocky Bo, says, “Is all this for me?” We hear his sister, Babycat, was pretty interested in his prize as well!

We love Kilala, and think her mom’s pretty great too – after all, she made us this wonderful picture! We think Kilala makes a great spokescat for Halo natural pet food!

Congratulations to Popeye, this week’s Halo Pet!

October 15th, 2008 by Mira

This week’s Halo Pet of the Week is a very special California boy named Popeye. This bulldog was adopted from a Los Angeles rescue five years ago, and has been filling his mom’s life with love ever since.

Popeye is deaf, but he is one smart pup who has overcome his disability. He can understand American Sign Language, and his mom uses it to communicate with him. Because signing is Popeye’s method of communication, he focuses on people’s hands, and his mom says that if he is near someone who speaks using a lot of hand gestures, he will always think they must be talking to him!

One of Popeye’s favorite activities is sleeping – he doesn’t exactly dispute the idea of the lazy bulldog. But that’s just fine with his mom, who loves to cuddle with him.

He isn’t sleeping all the time though; Popeye is a mischievous boy who has learned to open cupboards and closets. This sometimes causes a mess for his mom, but one look at that big bulldog smile and she just can’t stay mad for long!

Congratulations to Buddy, this week’s Halo Pet!

October 8th, 2008 by Mira

We’d like you to get to know Buddy – he’s one cool beagle! A former resident of the Northshore Animal League, Buddy was chosen by his future family from rows upon rows of puppies. At 6 1/2 months of age, he wasn’t the youngest pup there, but when he stared up with those big brown eyes, his new dad had a feeling this would be the dog for him. Two visits later, he took Buddy home, where the pup is now quite happy with a family, yard, and toys to play with!

This beloved beagle just adores people and doesn’t have a mean bone in his body. He is happiest when spending time with his family, playing hide and seek, going on car rides, and taking walks to the dog park. Buddy has even been on several camping trips, and he loves to explore the outdoors – as long as it’s not raining!

Buddy shares his home with two feline siblings, who can sometimes bring out a bit of a jealous streak. When someone else is holding the cats, Buddy has been known to sit at their feet howling as if he just can’t get enough attention. This behaviour doesn’t scare these tough kitties though – they like to show Buddy’s who’s boss, even though he’s five times their size!

Buddy has nothing to be jealous of today, since he’s clearly the star of the show as our Pet of the Week. From what we hear, food is one of his favorite things, so we just know he’s going to love his Halo goodie bag!
