Why does PetMD’s popular “Haute or Not” column think Ellen DeGeneres is haute? They explain, “Of course we love her for not only standing up for what she believes in, but for who she is. No shame, no hiding away, or living under pretense. Yep, we really do love her for that, indeed. However, we love her even more for her devotion to animals and their welfare.

“Last year she bought into Halo, a company that produces healthy, natural, and high quality food for cats and dogs. We’ve used this food on our beloved babies and they absolutely love it! Being that it’s human-grade pet food, people can eat it too, but … we have to admit, we haven’t had the pleasure.

“On her talk show, The Ellen DeGeneres Show, she constantly highlights people and groups dedicated to helping animals. And together with Halo, donated $10,000 to Rescue Ink, a rescue group of “tattoo-covered, motorcycle-riding guys that do what it takes to stop animal abuse! (Within the law, of course).”

According to Ellen DeGeneres, “We’ve had a lot of questions about our good friend, Smokey the Cat. We want you all to know that Smokey is in good health and still regularly visits the set. Since there’s so much activity happening on stage, we’ve moved his dishes to a safer and more permanent home in the studio.

“Since they’re in a safer location, it’s hard for us to get a camera there. I want you to know that we are still feeding him his Halo pet food and Ellen water every day. And, of course, if anything major happens, you’ll know about it!”
