The Cat House on the Kings is California’s largest no-cage, lifetime cat sanctuary and adoption center. The Halo Pet Food Grant helped the Cat House on the Kings feed all of the nursing mom cats we have this year. Kitten season was huge this year and this grant fed each and every mom cat that came in. Our mom cats have never looked better! Their coats were shiny, their eyes bright and the best part was that the kittens were benefiting too! Each year during kitten season, we have a huge influx of mother cats with kittens. It is so extremely important that they get high quality food while they are nursing. They get the extra nutrients that they need and the kittens are healthier for it.
Trixie, a mother cat with 6 kittens came to the Cat House. Trixie was in horrible condition, she had an upper respiratory infection, fleas, ear mites etc. Trixie appeared distressed and down. The kittens were not in good shape either. We started Trixie on medications right away, but we also started her on Halo Pet Food.
We saw a difference in her the very next day. The upper respiratory medications do not work that quickly of course. We saw her perk up, and meowed for us to come pet her. Her eyes were shinning and she was taking better care of her kittens. We knew it was from the Halo Pet Food. Within 3 days her medications were working on the infection, and she was a completely different cat than the one who had come in depressed and sick. The 6 kittens had even perked up and were nursing better. Halo’s high quality food makes a substantial difference in what we do.
