A rescued goldendoodle in Alogoma, Wis., has a new leash on life, comforting and delighting alzheimers patients at a local nursing facility.
“Miracle Micah” was surrendered by his family, an older couple whose living circumstances changed, to the Door County Humane Society in Sturgeon, Wis.
According to The Green Bay Press Gazette, Natalie Ficklin-Holliday, who works at the Algoma Long Term Care Center in Algoma, Wis., saw Micah’s photo on Facebook and went to meet him. She fell in love instantly.
The facility where she works had been looking for a furry addition to their team. Other therapy dogs had come for short visits and the staff had seen the positive effects on patients.
Micah lives with Ficklin-Holliday as her pet but comes to work with her most days.
