When Savira Randhawa of Toronto, Ontario and her family added a Goldendoodle named Simba to their family, they never dreamed the young dog might end up helping save the life of the family’s 12-year-old daughter.
According to CTV Toronto, the girl, Afreen Nagra, was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes in 2013. Nagra and her family are diligent about watching Nagra’s blood glucose levels.
A few weeks ago, Nagra was asleep in her parents’ bed next to her mother when Simba began acting strangely. “(Simba) started licking my face and pulling up the comforter and I was like, ‘What’s happening?'” Randhawa told CTV Toronto.
At first Randhawa thought Simba had mistaken her for her daughter. But the persistent pup wouldn’t stop his odd behavior so Randhawa got up, feeling something was wrong. She looked over at her daughter and noticed she was sweating profusely and was groggy and difficult to wake up.
