Every adoptable pet has a backstory but it’s often a mystery to shelter workers and adopters. But at an animal shelter in Maryland, a sweet cat named Susie comes with a beautiful letter her owner wrote on her behalf before she died.
According to ABC News, the shelter caring for Susie, Montgomery County Animal Services and Adoption Center (MCAS) in Derwood, Maryland, recently made the letter public in the hopes that it will help Susie find her forever home. She’s been at the shelter since May when her late owner’s son brought her in.
“He had said that he could not have the cat where he lived,” said Katherine Zenzano, community outreach coordinator at MCAS. “We assume his mother knew this was going to happen because she wrote a letter to the person that was going to adopt Susie. He gave it to our intake counselor, so that’s now in a file waiting for whoever comes to adopt her, and it will be passed onto them.”
