Have you ever felt the panic of losing your pet and been told to never lose hope? A Canadian family learned that even when hope seems impossible, there still might be a happy ending.

The Moore-Dingwell family’s cat, Will, went missing during a snowstorm 19 months ago on Prince Edward Island. According to CTV News, the storm was so intense that “you couldn’t see your hand in front of your face.” Then, over a year and a half after that horrible storm, Norma Moore-Dingwell was moved to tears. This time they were tears of happiness. She found Will simply sitting in her yard. In Norma’s words according to CBC News, “I didn’t believe it was him. When I realized it was, I cried.”

Norma and her husband also took practical action and brought Will to New Perth Animal Hospital for a full checkup from veterinarian David Lister. “The condition of [Will showed] he certainly hadn’t been living in a home and probably hadn’t really been in a barn where there was food. He’d just have to live on what he was catching and he obviously caught enough to survive,” said Dr. Lister.
