For Halo, Whole Makes a Whole Lot of Difference means the healthiest dry cat food is made with only real whole food ingredients, and no “meat meal” of any kind.

Think about the foods you choose for the human members of your family. Just as you choose “whole foods”– foods that are as close to their natural form as possible and not processed – like fresh meat, non-GMO fresh fruits and fresh vegetables – Halo believes this same philosophy should apply to the furry members of your family.  

If you look at the ingredients in Halo healthy cat food, you will see that our first ingredient is real, WHOLE meat. Look further and you will never see “meat meal”, such as “chicken meal” or “fish meal” – anywhere on our ingredients list. You will also find fresh fruits and vegetables, healthy sources of fat and added vitamins and minerals in our vet recommended cat food. Every ingredient in our food has a purpose – and is an important part of a healthy diet.

Other pet foods claim their first ingredient is meat, but look closely and most contain “chicken meal,” “fish meal,” or some other form of “meat meal” as a primary ingredient in the top 5 list of ingredients.  “Meat meal” is made from taking remnants that are not edible for humans and processing them under high heat to dehydrate them into a dry powdery substance that goes into kibble.  Meat meal is much less expensive than WHOLE meat, poultry, or fish. However, it is somewhat less digestible for your pet. We don’t think it should be there.

Halo believes that what pet parents want is healthy cat food made from the nutrition of WHOLE meat, poultry, or fish.  Therefore it’s important to make sure that a “meat meal” is not one of the primary ingredients in your cat food.  We believe that to have a healthy cat, you must feed them a healthy cat food made from whole food ingredients.
